Servings 12 breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 240 grams warm water 1 cup
  • 3 grams active dry yeast 1 tsp
  • 8 grams honey 1 tsp
  • 400 grams bread flour (or all-purpose) 3 1/3 cups
  • 9 grams sea salt 1 1/2 tsp
  • 22 grams olive oil (or avocado oil) 2 tbsp

Garlic Topping

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • Mix warm water, honey, and yeast in the bowl of an electric mixer.
  • Add in the flour and salt. Place under the mixer with a dough hook and mix until it forms a ball, about 30 seconds.
  • Add in the oil and knead for 5 minutes. The dough should be smooth.
  • Cover with plastic and let the dough rest for about an hour, until the dough has about doubled in size.
  • Dust your counter with a light coating of flour. Dump out the dough and knead it a few times. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions, about 57 grams a piece.
  • Taking one piece at time, flatten it into a rectangle. Roll it into a log, and then pinch the seams. Roll it between the hands or along the counter until you reach your desired length, about 6" - 8". Place them on a piece of parchment or silicone mat, on a baking sheet. Repeat with all breadstick pieces.
  • Let your dough rest for approximately 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Bake your breadsticks for 12-15 minutes, until they are golden brown.
When they are out of the oven, use pastry brush to rub olive oil (or swipe a stick of butter across the warm tops) over each breadstick. Then sprinkle salt and garlic powder over each.
